Security operatives have rearrested three of the 12 inmates who escaped from the Koton Karfe Correctional Centre in Kogi State during a jailbreak.
Speaking at a press briefing on Monday, the Acting Controller General of the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), Sly Nwakuche, confirmed the development while expressing deep regret over the killing of a correctional officer by the fleeing prisoners.
Authorities Vow to Recapture Remaining Inmates
Nwakuche assured Nigerians that the remaining escapees will be tracked down and brought to justice. He urged the public to assist security agencies by providing useful information that could lead to their arrest.
“We will not rest until all the fugitives are back in custody,” he stated, reaffirming the government’s commitment to maintaining law and order.
