Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris on Wednesday presented a proposed 2026 budget of ₦642 billion to the Kebbi State House of Assembly, describing it as the “Budget of Transformation and People’s Empowerment.”
The governor highlighted that the budget prioritises development, accountability, and security, with significant investments in infrastructure across the state.
As part of the budget, Governor Idris proposed the Kebbi State Security Trust Fund to tackle ongoing security challenges, including the abduction of schoolgirls in Maga. The fund will receive an initial takeoff grant of ₦3 billion to strengthen local community security.

Governor Idris stated that 75% of the total budget, equivalent to ₦479 billion, is earmarked for capital expenditure, while 25% (₦163 billion) is allocated to recurrent expenditure. Funding will come from Federal Allocation (FAAC), Value Added Tax (VAT), and the state’s internally generated revenue (IGR).

On infrastructure, the governor revealed that by the first quarter of 2026, projects such as the Zuru, Bena, and Wasagu General Hospitals are expected to be completed. The budget also focuses on urban rehabilitation, while the judiciary will see the introduction of digital case management systems across Kebbi courts to enhance the timely delivery of justice.
Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Usman Muhammad, commended the governor for his people-oriented approach, noting the successful execution of the 2025 budget. He assured that the 2026 budget bill would be passed by next week.
