Kano State is currently leading all other states in Nigeria in the ongoing voter registration exercise, with a total of 59,203 completed physical registrations.

An analysis of Kano State’s voter registration data as of October 7, 2025, shows notable variation across the state’s 44 Local Government Areas (LGAs), placing Kano first nationwide in registration turnout.

This was revealed in a Progress Report prepared by Dr. Aliyu Isa Aliyu, Chairman of the Sub-Committee on Data Analysis.

According to the report, Nassarawa LGA recorded the highest figure with 2,442 registered voters, followed closely by Kumbotso (2,333) and Bichi (2,328), reflecting their large urban populations and accessibility to registration centres.

Mid-performing LGAs such as Dala (1,548), Gaya (1,542), Rimin Gado (1,570), and Ungogo (1,632) showed steady but moderate participation.

The report further noted that most LGAs, including Ajingi, Bunkure, and Minjibir, recorded between 1,000 and 1,200 registrations—figures consistent with the state’s overall average.

However, Rogo (147), Doguwa (536), and Tarauni (549) ranked lowest in registration turnout.

  • “The results suggest a strong urban advantage in voter registration and highlight the need for improved outreach and logistical support to boost participation in rural, low-performing LGAs,” the report stated.
