A Kaduna State police officer, Hadaina Hussaini Dan-Taki, has sparked outrage after threatening reprisal attacks on southerners living in northern Nigeria.
Dan-Taki’s comments came in response to the brutal killing of 16 northerners in Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State.
Police Officer’s Facebook Threat Sparks National Concern
In a fiery Facebook post on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, Dan-Taki swore by Almighty God that northerners would retaliate against southerners.
“I swear to Almighty God, we must do something for you guys. Have you forgotten all your brothers that are living here in the North? Mark my words, after one week, you shall see the result,” he wrote.
Following public outrage and criticism, Dan-Taki changed his Facebook name and restricted access to his page, limiting who could see his posts.
Police Respond After Outrage on Social Media
A concerned X user, #UcheDIgboezeson, shared a screenshot of Dan-Taki’s comment, tagging Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) Olumuyiwa Adejobi, urging him to take action.
“#Princemoye1, take care of this sir,” the user wrote.
Adejobi quickly responded:
“Noted for necessary action. Thanks.”
Security Forces Arrest 14 Suspects Over Uromi Killings
Meanwhile, Naija Blog Daily earlier reported that 14 suspects have been arrested in connection with the Uromi killings. The suspects have since been transferred to Abuja for further interrogation, as confirmed by Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo.
The attack happened on Thursday, March 28, 2025, when a group of northerners traveling to Kano for Sallah celebrations was ambushed by a mob. Their vehicle was ransacked, weapons were allegedly discovered, and they were brutally murdered, sparking nationwide outrage.
Governor Okpebholo Condemns the Attack
Governor Okpebholo described the killings as unacceptable and assured that the perpetrators would face justice.
“This act is condemnable, and those responsible will face the full weight of the law,” he said.
