The internal crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a dramatic turn as FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, officially withdraws from all reconciliation agreements, accusing Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde of violating key resolutions.
In a personally signed statement titled “PDP Crisis: My Position”, released on Sunday, Wike declared his intention to continue the fight for justice within the party, citing persistent dishonesty and betrayal among PDP stakeholders.
Wike Slams Makinde Over Breached Agreements
Wike alleged that Governor Makinde was the “chief culprit” in undermining efforts to stabilize the PDP. He cited the failure to implement agreements such as:
- Recognition of Senator Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary has been upheld by the Supreme Court.
- Withdrawal of all legal suits involving Rivers State.
- Termination of the PDP-backed state of emergency case in Rivers.
- According to Wike, the PDP’s instability stems from a “virus of dishonesty and treachery,” primarily driven by broken promises.
Inside the G5 and Abuja Meetings
Wike revealed that during a G5 meeting in Lagos, he directly accused Makinde of betraying trust. A follow-up meeting in Abuja, attended by key figures including Bukola Saraki, Bala Mohammed, Umaru Fintiri, and Makinde, led to the formation of a reconciliation committee chaired by Saraki.
However, before the committee could even begin its work, Wike claimed the “gentleman’s agreement” was already violated by moves to undermine Anyanwu and install Ude Okoye as National Secretary.
South-East Drama and INEC Fallout
Wike described how Makinde allegedly collaborated with Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu to push for Ude Okoye’s adoption, while also instructing PDP national officers to ignore the Supreme Court-backed position of Anyanwu.

In a major consequence of this internal rift, a recent PDP zonal congress in Jos was aborted after INEC refused to attend, citing an invalid invitation signed by the Deputy National Secretary rather than Anyanwu.
“I’ve Given My All to PDP” — Wike
Wike emphasized his longstanding loyalty to the PDP since 1998, noting that he had never made personal demands despite his role in helping several governors win elections.
“I have now firmly decided to pull out of all agreements hitherto reached. I have decided to fight on until justice is attained,” Wike concluded.
