The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dissolved the Solomon Agwanana-led State Working Committee (SWC) in Bayelsa State, deepening the ongoing crisis in the party’s state chapter.
On Tuesday, the South-South Zonal Working Committee (ZWC) announced the dissolution after a meeting held at the PDP Zonal Secretariat in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Following the decision, the ZWC appointed George Turnah, the PDP South-South Zonal Secretary, as Chairman of a new caretaker committee to manage the party’s affairs in Bayelsa.
Why the PDP Dissolved the Bayelsa SWC
In a statement signed by the Zonal Publicity Secretary, Prince Etim Isong, the party stated that the Agwanana-led SWC was removed for gross misconduct and inability to manage the internal crisis within the party.
“The decision follows a careful review of the party’s performance and the failure of the dissolved executives to uphold the party’s constitution,” Isong said.
Changes Also Hit Edo PDP
The ZWC also announced the replacement of the Edo State caretaker chairman, Tony Aziegbemi, with Nosa Ogieva, citing poor performance in the last governorship elections and internal conflict management failures.

Isong expressed confidence that the move would rebuild the party’s structure, strengthen internal democracy, and position PDP for future electoral success in both states.
