JUST IN: Heavy Security Presence in Abuja Over Planned Protest by Take-It-Back Movement.

Tension is rising in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as security operatives intensify surveillance ahead of a planned protest organized by the Take-It-Back Movement. The group is mobilizing to demonstrate against the Cybercrime Act, the alleged emergency rule in Rivers State, and worsening economic hardship across Nigeria.

By 10 a.m. on Monday, a police helicopter was hovering over Abuja, particularly around the city centre, monitoring potential protest hotspots.

Though no large gatherings have been observed, heavy police deployments have been stationed across strategic locations, including Eagle Square, where access roads have been barricaded.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters, through its spokesperson ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, warned that it would not tolerate any form of unrest. Adejobi described the protest as a scheme by “subversive elements” hiding under the guise of economic frustration.

The authorities said the goal is to prevent a potential breakdown of law and order, emphasizing that any attempts to disturb public peace will be firmly resisted.

Residents in Abuja expressed concern over the situation, urging security agencies to handle the matter peacefully and professionally to avoid unnecessary chaos.

As tensions mount, all eyes remain on Abuja, where a possible showdown between protesters and security operatives could unfold in the coming hours.
