JAMB Disowns Fake Rescheduling Site Targeting 2025 UTME Candidates.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a strong disclaimer against a fraudulent website soliciting payments from candidates who missed the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

In a statement released on Thursday in Abuja, JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, alerted the public to a scam operation running under the name “Copyrightwriter Personal J Rescheduling Flw”, with Sterling Bank account number 8520641017.

Fake Rescheduling Scheme

According to JAMB, the scammers are targeting desperate candidates by demanding N15,700 under the false pretext of rescheduling missed UTME exams.

“Let us be unequivocal: this is a blatant scam. The individuals behind this have no affiliation with JAMB or any legitimate government agency,” said Benjamin.

He warned that the payment request and account are fictitious and set up purely to defraud unsuspecting candidates and parents.

No Rescheduling for Missed Exams

JAMB clarified that it does not reschedule UTME exams for candidates who missed their appointments due to reasons unrelated to the board, such as lateness or personal emergencies.

However, candidates whose biometric verification failed will be invited to retake the examination at no cost, once investigations confirm their eligibility.

“It is important to note that no cost is required for rescheduled exams. JAMB never asks for payments after registration has been completed,” Benjamin stressed.

Legal Action and Security Measures

JAMB has already reported the fake site to the relevant security agencies and has urged Sterling Bank to swiftly act against the fraudulent account.

The board is also actively working to trace and apprehend the criminals behind the scheme.

A Call for Vigilance

Benjamin called on candidates, parents, and the general public to remain vigilant and avoid falling for fake websites, false claims, or unofficial communication.

“Protect yourselves and report any suspicious activity immediately. Stay informed by relying solely on official JAMB channels.”
