The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has issued a firm public warning, declaring that it will not tolerate violence, criminality, or public disorder in the name of its agitation for Biafra.

In a strongly worded statement signed by IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, the pro-Biafra group distanced itself from recent acts of violence in the South-East and South-South regions, stating that such actions contradict the core values of IPOB.

• “IPOB was established to protect our people, not kill them,” the statement read.
• “We are not violent. We do not kidnap, burn our communities, or extort people. Anyone doing this in our name is a criminal and an enemy of Biafra.”

🛑 IPOB Condemns Recent Insecurity in South-East

The group condemned the rising insecurity in Enugu, Imo, Abia, Anambra, and Ebonyi States, including kidnappings, killings, and extortion allegedly carried out by both state and non-state actors. It warned that no individual or group is authorized to issue sit-at-home orders or commit crimes under the guise of Biafra agitation.

“Let it be clear: anyone abducting or harming innocent civilians, security personnel, or traditional rulers is not one of us,” IPOB emphasized.

📢 “We Do Not Kill, We Do Not Kidnap”

IPOB reiterated that its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has consistently preached peaceful, legal, and diplomatic solutions. The group emphasized that their strategy involves referenda, mass mobilization, and international diplomacy, not bloodshed.

• “Any act of violence is a betrayal of our leader and a sabotage of the Biafra struggle.”

The statement also called out alleged government-sponsored black operations and propaganda aimed at discrediting IPOB, insisting that certain attacks are staged to implicate the group and justify Mazi Kanu’s continued detention.

⚖ Call for Calm and Unity

The group appealed to all IPOB members, supporters, and Biafrans in the diaspora to stay peaceful and resist being provoked or misled by infiltrators and enemies of the Biafra cause.

“IPOB is a disciplined movement. We do not operate in secrecy. We do not use terror to compel loyalty. Those hiding under our name to commit crimes will be exposed and decisively dealt with.”
