The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has strongly condemned the alleged intimidation of Igbo communities by the Nigeria Police, insisting that Igbos will defend themselves against Fulani herdsmen attacks in the Southeast.

The group’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, issued a statement in response to the Abia State Police Commissioner’s summons of some Bende Local Government leaders over allegations of killing a Fulani herder.

IPOB’s Response to Allegations

• IPOB accused the Abia Police Command of siding with Fulani militants and attempting to weaken Igbo resistance against recurring attacks. According to the statement:
• The Nkpa Community leaders were summoned for allegedly defending their land against Fulani terrorist attacks, including cases of rape, kidnapping, and killings.
• IPOB’s intelligence unit claims that Fulani herders falsely accused the community of murder to justify a planned invasion.

The group insists that Eastern Security Network (ESN) does not require community approval to act against terrorist threats in the Southeast.

IPOB Reaffirms Commitment to Self-Defense

IPOB warned that it will resist any attempts to leave Igbo communities defenseless:

“Self-defense is an inalienable right of every person. Only a tree stands still while being cut down. We will never allow our people to be vulnerable to Fulani terrorist attacks without resistance,” the statement read.

The group also accused the Nigerian government, security agencies, and judiciary of deliberately frustrating efforts to protect Igbo communities from State-sponsored terrorism.
