INEC Denies Suspending Ward Delineation in Warri Federal Constituency.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has dismissed reports suggesting it suspended the ward delineation exercise in the Warri Federal Constituency of Delta State.

In a statement released on Monday, INEC clarified that the reports, which quoted one of its officials, were misleading and did not reflect the Commission’s position.

National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, urged all stakeholders to remain calm and allow the process to run its course.

  • “The delineation process has not been suspended. While no final decision has been taken yet, INEC is committed to carrying out its constitutional responsibilities as directed by the Supreme Court,” he said.

The affected constituency covers Warri North, Warri South, and Warri South West Local Government Areas.

It will be recalled that on December 2, 2022, the Supreme Court ordered INEC to conduct a proper delineation of wards in the area.

Meanwhile, INEC confirmed that the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise is still ongoing across all LGAs within the constituency.
