INEC, APC Colluding to Block Coalition’s Registration Ahead of 2027 Elections — PDP Chieftain Alleges.

Ibrahim Kalgo, a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of working in tandem with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to frustrate the registration of a new political coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Friday, Kalgo alleged that INEC was showing systemic bias and fear of the opposition, particularly in how it has handled over 70 pending applications for new political party registrations.

“INEC is being biased and also afraid because the coalition is here to defeat APC come 2027,” Kalgo said.
“It appears INEC is working hand in hand with the APC-led government.”

Kalgo questioned INEC’s refusal to acknowledge or process the registration requests, despite the coalition groups fulfilling all legal requirements.

According to him, these parties are seeking to provide a fresh political alternative to Nigerians and challenge the current dominance of the APC. He queried whether all 70 applications might have been invalid or incomplete.

  • “Are you saying all the 70 applicants submitted wrong or incomplete documents?” Kalgo asked.
  • “These are political groups coming together to give Nigerians a new platform and new choice. INEC must act within the law.”

Citing electoral guidelines, Kalgo stated that once an application is submitted and INEC fails to respond within 90 days, the party should be deemed registered by default under the law.

The PDP stalwart warned that blocking the coalition’s emergence would only undermine Nigeria’s democracy and called for greater transparency and neutrality from INEC as preparations for Election 2027 begin.
