The Imo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of three suspected IPOB members during a successful raid on a suspected terrorist hideout in Okigwe Local Government Area. The operation took place in the early hours of Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Cameron Street, Ubahu, following credible intelligence.
The tactical police team, working in synergy with local vigilante operatives, engaged in a gun battle with the suspects. Two fled into nearby bushes, while three were apprehended. The arrested suspects have been identified as Onyekaba Ikenna Innocent (21), Ugwu Ikenna (31), and Ofor Kasarachi (37).
Police spokesperson, Henry Okoye, made this known while parading the suspects and displaying seized items at the command headquarters in Owerri, Imo State, on Friday.
During the operation, security forces recovered:
- One AK-47 rifle
- Two pump-action shotguns
- Eighteen live cartridges
- Multiple mobile phones and laptops
- ₦10.3 million in cash
According to Okoye, preliminary investigations suggest that the recovered cash was allegedly contributed by IPOB supporters to fund terrorist operations within the region.
This major breakthrough is part of the ongoing efforts by CP Aboki Danjuma and the Imo State Police Command to combat insecurity, terrorism, and IPOB-related violence in the state.

Okoye assured the public that the police command has intensified security patrols, checkpoints, and surveillance in collaboration with other security agencies ahead of the 2025 Easter celebrations to ensure peace and safety across Imo State.
