In a heartfelt interview with footballer Rasheedat Ajibade, Sydney shared that his early life was marked by family rejection, stemming from his parents’ unstable relationship and his father’s battle with drug addiction.

“I was a child that the family never wanted. I stayed with the rich, the poor, average, village, golden house; think about it, I did everything,” he said.
According to him, he was constantly moved from one home to another—living with his grandmother, aunt, uncle, and cousins, depending on who could take care of him at the time. He described it as a life of uncertainty and survival, where he saw “everything” and experienced life from all sides.
Parents’ Struggles and a Near-Abortion
Sydney also made a stunning revelation about how his mother nearly aborted him twice due to fears over his father’s addiction struggles.
“To be honest, my mum had me the first time and because of how she saw my dad going up and down, she tried to abort me,” he revealed. “Then somebody told her that I was going to come back.”
He explained that his parents reconnected after the first abortion attempt, leading to his eventual birth. But when his father relapsed into drug use, his mother again considered terminating the pregnancy. It was his grandmother’s intervention that saved his life.
“My grandma said, ‘Don’t worry, bring him. I will train him.’ That’s how I stayed with my grandma,” Sydney added.
A Journey From Pain to Purpose
Despite the rocky upbringing, Sydney believes God’s intervention changed his life. His resilience and faith saw him through the toughest times until he finally began living with his mother, and later his aunt, as he pursued his dreams.
“I literally stayed everywhere. I have seen everything. I literally saw different stuff,” he said with emotion.
Today, Sydney Talker is one of Nigeria’s most celebrated skit makers, known for his comedic creativity and viral videos. His story is a powerful reminder of how hope, faith, and perseverance can turn a painful past into a successful future.
