Nigeria’s culinary sensation and former Guinness World Record holder, Hilda Baci, is gearing up for an extraordinary feat: cooking the world’s largest pot of jollof rice. As revealed in a viral Instagram video, the ambitious attempt will feature an enormous pot with a capacity of 22,619 litres, measuring 6 metres in diameter and height, and ranging between C 1.1 to 1.3 metres deep.

Her mathematical planning is equally impressive. To fill the pot up to 75–80 percent capacity—enough to make a massive impact—she calculates the need for approximately 5,278 kilograms of basmati rice, translating to about 264 bags. However, for logistical reasons, Hilda has adjusted this to 250 bags of rice.

She further detailed the immense amount of condiments involved. With a formula of 0.30 kg of tomato paste per kg of rice, the event will require 1,583 kg of Gino tomato paste, distributed equally among tomato paste, pepper chicken paste, and jollof paste varieties—a blend aimed at delivering “the most delicious, largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice you have ever tasted”.

The monumental event is scheduled for September 12, 2025, at Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island, Lagos. Described as more than a culinary record bid, it’s set up as a cultural festival celebrating Nigerian cuisine, music, and community spirit, with plans to feed up to 10,000 people.

Two years earlier, Hilda made global headlines for her 93-hour-11-minute cooking marathon, earning her a Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual—a title that has since been surpassed—but the feat remains a testimony to her incredible endurance and culinary passion.
