Hamas Says Fate of Israeli-American Hostage Edan Alexander Unknown.

Hamas has stated that the fate of Israeli-American hostage Edan Alexander remains uncertain following the death of the guard assigned to him during a recent Israeli military operation in Gaza.

Alexander, a 21-year-old Israeli soldier and native of New Jersey, was reportedly being held by a group of militants with whom Hamas says it has now lost contact. The group was attacked by Israeli forces earlier in the week, raising concerns over the safety of the hostage.

“We are trying to protect all the hostages and preserve their lives, but their lives are in danger due to the criminal bombings by the enemy’s army,” said Abu Ubaida, spokesperson for Hamas’s armed wing, Al-Qassam Brigades.

The militant group continues to accuse the Israeli army of causing the deaths of hostages through heavy bombardments in Gaza. Israel, on the other hand, has consistently blamed Hamas for the killing of hostages under its custody.

As of the time of this report, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have not issued a statement in response to Hamas’s claims.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to make a public statement later on Saturday, potentially addressing the ongoing hostage crisis.

Edan Alexander’s case has been central to previous negotiations between Hamas leaders and U.S. hostage envoy Adam Boehler, making his disappearance a matter of international concern.
