Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has made a shocking revelation—God warned him that his firstborn would die if he ever left the RCCG.
The revered cleric shared this during the June Holy Ghost Service in the early hours of Saturday at the Redemption City of God, Ogun State. The message was delivered during his sermon titled “Destined for Greatness (Part 2).”
Divine Warning and Obedience to God’s Calling
While emphasizing the need for spiritual direction and consistency, Pastor Adeboye reflected on his early Christian journey and how tempting it was to switch churches in search of popularity or convenience.

“When I got born again, there were three major ministries making waves. The temptation was there to leave. But God said, ‘Son, I brought you here. This is where you’ll stay. The day you leave this denomination, your firstborn will die.’”
At the time, RCCG was relatively unknown, with a humble headquarters in Ebute-Metta, Lagos. Despite being a university lecturer, Adeboye said he was instructed by God to submit to a spiritual father with no formal education.
“My father in the Lord never went to secondary school, not even primary. But God said this is where you must stay.”
Message to the Youth: Stay Where God Plants You
Referencing a sermon by his son, Pastor Leke Adeboye, the respected cleric addressed the growing trend of church hopping among young Christians, urging them to seek divine placement and stay rooted where God assigns them.

“Discover where God wants you to stay—and stay there,” he emphasized.
Adeboye clarified that his message was not meant to place RCCG above other denominations, but to underscore the importance of obedience to divine instructions.
“I’m not saying RCCG is better than any other church,” he added.
