Fubara to Rivers People: We Will Emerge Stronger Amid State of Emergency.

Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has assured residents that the ongoing political crisis will strengthen them rather than weaken their resolve.

Fubara made this statement while hosting Muslim leaders from 20 Islamic groups, including the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, at his private residence in Port Harcourt during the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.

Encouraging his supporters to remain steadfast, Fubara emphasized faith in God’s plan, stating:

  • “This season symbolizes love, sacrifice, and unity. Your presence here shows your support during these challenging times, and I appreciate your prayers.”
  • While acknowledging the political turmoil, he expressed confidence that it could lead to a greater purpose.
  • According to a statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, Fubara reaffirmed his commitment to justice, equality, and inclusive governance. He also promised to address the Muslim community’s pending requests once the political crisis stabilizes.

Urging patience and perseverance, he drew a biblical analogy:

“If God could be patient with Noah, allowing even the snail to enter the Ark, then patience is essential in our struggle.”

  • He warned against violence and political provocation, urging Rivers people to reject those seeking to destabilize the state.

“Their goal is to create instability and hinder economic progress. We will not allow that. We will continue to operate within the law to ensure Rivers State remains a model for others in Nigeria.”

Uhor further urged President Bola Tinubu to review the emergency rule in Rivers State and restore Fubara’s full authority, stating that despite the crisis, the governor has continued to lead effectively.
