FG Orders Probe into Alleged ₦5.2m Extortion by NSCDC Officers in Ekiti.

The Federal Government has ordered an investigation into the alleged extortion of ₦5.2 million by officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Ekiti State.

This follows a viral social media report claiming that the NSCDC officers extorted the sum from a group of young men traveling from Ado-Ekiti to Akure, Ondo State.

In a statement released by his media aide, Alao Babatunde, the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, directed that a full probe be launched into the incident.

Minister Vows Justice, Zero Tolerance for Misconduct

Dr. Tunji-Ojo condemned the alleged misconduct, promising that any officer found guilty will face the full wrath of the law.

“We will not tolerate any form of misconduct from our security agencies. We are building a paramilitary that is disciplined, professional, and serves Nigeria with dignity and patriotism.”

He added that the Ministry remains committed to upholding justice and ensuring that all security personnel carry out their duties with integrity.
