The Federal Government and Edo State Government have jointly set up a fact-finding committee to investigate the Uromi killings of sixteen hunters, which occurred on March 27, 2025, in Esan North-East Local Government Area of Edo State.

Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo made the announcement at the Government House in Benin City during a meeting with a delegation from Kano State, led by Deputy Governor Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo.

Okpebholo stated that President Bola Tinubu was deeply disturbed by the attack and has shown strong commitment to ensuring justice and national security. He emphasized the President’s resolve to identify the root causes of the incident and implement lasting solutions.

“President Tinubu is not happy with what happened in Uromi. A joint fact-finding committee has been set up to uncover the truth and prevent such tragedies,” the governor said.

The Governor praised the Kano delegation for their cooperation, noting that a report submitted by the Kano State Government would assist the investigation process.

Deputy Governor Gwarzo, in his remarks, thanked Governor Okpebholo for his earlier visit to Kano and his assurances of peace and justice. He confirmed that Kano had already screened and verified the identities of the victims and their next of kin.

“Sixteen innocent lives were lost—men from five local government areas of Kano State. We seek transparency and justice for them,” Gwarzo added.
