Nigerian rapper, actor, and activist Folarin “Falz” Falana has urged citizens to demand a nationwide public hearing to investigate why the Nigerian Armed Forces remain poorly equipped despite the massive budgets allocated to defence every year.
Reacting to the worsening insecurity across the country, Falz described the situation as a full-blown national security emergency, insisting that Nigerians must put pressure on their lawmakers to address the alleged rot in the system.
Falz encouraged citizens to contact their senators and House of Representatives members through emails, calls, and WhatsApp messages, pushing for transparency on defence spending and military readiness.

In a viral video currently circulating online, the musician questioned why the military continues to suffer ambushes and heavy casualties if billions are being released annually for weapons, training, and logistics.
According to him:
- “We need a public hearing that will be shown live on television and livestreamed globally. Year after year, billions are budgeted for arms and ammunition, yet what do we see? Soldiers are still poorly equipped. Military convoys are still being ambushed by criminals. An army general was murdered on camera — how did we get here?”
Falz stressed that Nigerians must insist on an emergency inquiry to examine the government’s counterterrorism strategy, allegations of inadequate equipment within the Armed Forces, and the broader plan to keep citizens safe.
