Renowned human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Femi Falana, has called for the immediate dismissal of Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, the Sole Administrator overseeing Rivers State affairs, over allegations of constitutional breaches and defiance of presidential authority.
In a statement shared with Vanguard on Thursday, Falana referenced an official Federal Government Gazette that clearly states the terms of the Sole Administrator’s duties are subject to regulations issued by President Bola Tinubu.

“The Sole Administrator shall operate based on such Regulations that may, from time to time, be issued by me,” the gazette quoted President Tinubu.
Falana, however, argued that no such regulation has been issued by the President to guide the Administrator’s operations. Despite this, the Sole Administrator has reportedly gone ahead to make appointments and dismiss officials previously appointed by Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
“This is a gross violation of the law,” Falana stated. “By disregarding the President’s authority, the Sole Administrator has only deepened the illegitimacy of his appointment. He must be removed without delay.”
