Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe is back at the club’s training ground after recovering from a recent battle with pneumonia, the Premier League side confirmed on Thursday.
The 47-year-old was hospitalized earlier in the month, forcing him to miss crucial Premier League fixtures against Manchester United, Crystal Palace, and Aston Villa.
In an official statement, the club said:
“Newcastle United are delighted to confirm that Eddie Howe has returned to his duties at the club’s training centre. Eddie had recently been hospitalised with pneumonia and has now returned to work after a period of recovery. We thank supporters for their warm wishes.”
During Howe’s absence, assistant manager Jason Tindall stepped up to lead the team. Under Tindall’s temporary leadership, Newcastle earned impressive wins over Manchester United and Crystal Palace but suffered a heavy defeat to Aston Villa.
Newcastle, currently sitting in fifth place on the EPL table, are still in the race for a Champions League qualification spot. The club recently celebrated its League Cup victory and is now preparing for an upcoming clash against struggling Ipswich Town on Saturday.
