Enugu Tech Festival 2025 Marks Major Leap for Nigeria’s Digital Future – Minister Bosun Tijani.

The 2025 Enugu Tech Festival has been hailed as the largest technology gathering in Nigeria’s history, with the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, describing it as a defining moment for the nation’s digital transformation.

Speaking at the festival themed “Coal to Code”, Dr. Tijani said the event, which drew thousands of youths and tech innovators, was proof that Enugu State, under the leadership of Governor Peter Mbah, is now leading the charge in Nigeria’s growing tech revolution.

“I’ve never been to a tech conference in Nigeria this big. What’s happening in Enugu today is historic. You are part of a generational rise where innovation and precision are shaping our future,” Tijani declared.

Enugu’s Transition: From Coal to Code

Governor Peter Mbah emphasized that the state’s shift from its historical reliance on coal to becoming a tech-powered economy is deliberate. He highlighted his administration’s massive investments in digital infrastructure, security technology, land administration systems, and education as foundations for building a tech-savvy youth workforce.

“Look at Uber, Airbnb, Tesla—these companies disrupted industries through innovation. We want Enugu youths to build such platforms that shape tomorrow’s world,” Mbah stated.

A New Tech Frontier in the Southeast

Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr. Lawrence Ezeh, noted that the Tech Festival signals a new chapter for Enugu, repositioning the state as a hub for digital innovation, entrepreneurship, and intellectual capital.

“For years, Enugu was known for coal. Today, we harness the power of knowledge and technology to fuel a brighter future,” Ezeh said, adding that the Tech Festival will now become an annual event.
