Elon Musk Insists People Shape the Narrative on X Amid Nigerian Govt’s Request to Ban Sowore.

Elon Musk, billionaire owner of social media platform X, has reiterated that the platform will remain a space where all sides of an argument can be heard, stressing that content moderation is handled through community-driven mechanisms.

In a post on his X handle on Sunday, Musk wrote:

  • “On this platform, the people decide the narrative. You hear all sides of an argument. Community Notes corrects everyone, no exceptions. Notes data & code is public source. Grok provides further fact-checking.”

His remarks come amid reports that the Nigerian government asked X Corp. to suspend the account of Omoyele Sowore, presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), over posts critical of President Bola Tinubu.

NAIJABLOGDAILY earlier reported that the Department of State Services (DSS) wrote to X Corp. demanding the immediate takedown of a tweet by Sowore, claiming it disparaged the President and posed a national security threat.

On August 25, 2025, Sowore, through his verified account @YeleSowore, shared a video of Tinubu during a state visit to Brazil and criticized the President’s statement that corruption “no longer exists” in Nigeria.

Sowore, a former presidential candidate and publisher of Sahara Reporters, has remained a fierce critic of the Tinubu administration, with many of his posts on X repeatedly attracting government scrutiny.
