The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially declared Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, 2025, as public holidays in celebration of Eid-el-Kabir (Eid-ul-Adha), one of the most significant Islamic festivals observed by Muslims worldwide.
This announcement was made on Monday by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government.

In the statement, the Minister congratulated all Muslim faithful in Nigeria and the Diaspora, urging them to reflect on the core values of sacrifice, faith, and obedience, as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (AS).
He encouraged the Muslim Ummah and all Nigerians to use this festive period to offer prayers for the peace, unity, and prosperity of Nigeria.
The minister also highlighted that the current reforms and developmental initiatives under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration are geared toward putting the country back on the path of growth and national progress.
