The Plateau State Government has condemned the deadly attacks and called for calm, assuring residents of a coordinated and strategic security response in the affected communities.

In a statement issued Friday, Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joyce Ramnap, expressed dismay at the renewed violence, describing it as a major setback in the state’s security progress.

“Security agencies have taken over the troubled areas to restore peace and normalcy. Key arrests have also been made, which we hope will help curb the crisis,” Ramnap stated.

She urged residents to remain law-abiding and avoid reprisals, assuring that the state government works closely with security operatives to enhance intelligence gathering, surveillance, and rapid response mechanisms.

Ramnap also called on religious, traditional, and community leaders to amplify messages of peace, unity, and lawful coexistence, stressing that the government will not tolerate any attempts to destabilize the state.

Tensions in Plateau State remain high following a series of brutal attacks. Notably, over 200 people were killed in December 2023 during a Christmas celebration in a majority Christian community. In a separate incident in May 2023, around 40 people were killed and homes were burned in Wase town.

The government encourages residents to support security operations and report threats through official channels, as efforts continue to bring justice and peace to the troubled region.
