Court Reserves Ruling in Ganduje, Seven Others’ Alleged Misappropriation Case.

The Kano State High Court has reserved its ruling in the ongoing legal battle involving APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and seven others over alleged misappropriation, bribery, and diversion of public funds.

The case, filed by the Kano State Government, includes eight-count charges against Ganduje, his wife Hafsat Umar, and others: Abubakar Bawuro, Umar Abdullahi Umar, Jibrilla Muhammad, Lamash Properties Limited, Safari Textiles Limited, and Lasage General Enterprises Limited.

Defence Teams Challenge Jurisdiction

At Tuesday’s hearing, legal representatives for all the defendants raised preliminary objections challenging the court’s jurisdiction and filed applications for extension of time.

Leading Ganduje’s defence, Offiong Offiong (SAN) stated:

“We filed our preliminary objection dated November 18, 2024… and a reply on point of law dated April 4, 2025. We urge the court to grant our application.”

However, the prosecution team, led by Adeola Adedipe (SAN), urged the court to dismiss all objections:

“The applications are without merit… We have responded with a counter affidavit and supporting documents.”

Multiple Objections Filed by Co-Defendants

Several other counsels, including Adekunle Taiye-Falola, Sunusi Musa (SAN), Ashafa Yusuf, and Faruk Asekome, echoed similar arguments and procedural compliance supporting their clients’ applications.

Sunusi Musa sought substantial costs against the complainant, arguing the charges were unjust.

Ruling Postponed

Presiding Judge, Justice Amina Adamu-Aliyu, granted the time extensions requested but withheld a decision on the preliminary objections.
