The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has issued a fresh warning to the general public about the increasing circulation of fake contracts, fraudulent loans, and bogus financial grants falsely linked to the apex bank.

In a statement released on Monday, CBN’s Acting Director of Corporate Communications, Mrs. Hakama Sidi-Ali, alerted Nigerians to the activities of scammers who claim to represent the bank in offering unauthorized financial benefits, intervention funds, and fabricated CBN contracts.

“These fraudsters are deceiving unsuspecting Nigerians with offers of non-existent loans, grants, and financial assistance allegedly backed by the CBN,” the statement read.

The bank emphasized that despite an earlier public notice issued on November 18, 2024, these fraudulent schemes continue to thrive, often promoted through emails, SMS, WhatsApp, and social media platforms.

The CBN clarified that it has not appointed any agent, individual, or group to act on its behalf in offering contracts, loans, or any kind of monetary support.

“The Central Bank of Nigeria does not award contracts or disburse funds through unsolicited communication channels,” the bank stressed.
