American rap superstar Cardi B (real name Belcalis Marlenis Almanzar Cephus) has been cleared of all assault allegations in a $24 million civil lawsuit, following a decisive ruling by a Los Angeles jury on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

The case was filed by Emani Ellis, a former security guard, who alleged that in 2018, while Cardi B was pregnant, the rapper attacked her outside a Beverly Hills obstetrician’s office. Ellis claimed that Cardi B scratched her face, spat on her, and hurled racial slurs.

Taking the witness stand last week, Cardi B strongly denied the accusations, insisting that the incident was purely verbal and escalated because she was being filmed without her consent during a private medical appointment.

Her defense was supported by witness testimonies, including a receptionist and a doctor present at the clinic, both of whom told the jury they saw no evidence of physical assault.

After less than an hour of deliberation, the jury delivered a unanimous verdict in Cardi B’s favor, ruling her not liable for the alleged incident.

Outside the courthouse, the Grammy-winning rapper expressed relief, standing firm against what she described as false claims.

• “Even if I’m on my deathbed, I will say it never happened. I will never admit to something I did not do,” Cardi B told reporters.

The verdict marks a major legal victory for Cardi B, closing a seven-year legal battle that had drawn significant media attention in the U.S. and worldwide.
