CAF President Motsepe Appoints Former NFF Boss Amaju Pinnick as Special Adviser.

Former President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, has been appointed as Special Adviser to the President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Dr Patrice Motsepe.

The appointment, which was confirmed during CAF’s Executive Committee meeting on Saturday, is seen as a recognition of Pinnick’s immense contributions to the growth of football on the continent.

With this new role, the 54-year-old Nigerian football administrator will now participate in CAF’s executive meetings as part of Motsepe’s inner advisory circle.

Pinnick’s Influence in African and Global Football

Pinnick, who previously served as NFF President, also held a seat on the FIFA Executive Council, becoming only the third Nigerian to do so after Oyo Orok Oyo and Amos Adamu.

Although he recently lost his FIFA Council position, his appointment as special adviser is widely regarded as a strategic move by CAF to retain his wealth of experience and network within global football governance.

Recognition of Service and Impact

CAF insiders say the decision to appoint Pinnick is a clear endorsement of his leadership legacy, especially in terms of advancing football development in Nigeria and across Africa.

The appointment comes at a time when CAF is strengthening its internal structure and expanding its engagement with experienced stakeholders to boost football governance, youth development, and continental competitions.
