The Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide, David Oyedepo, has urged Nigerian Christians to take proactive spiritual action in response to the recent spate of church attacks, killings, and abductions.
Speaking on Sunday at the 4th Pre-Shiloh Encounter Service, Oyedepo renewed a 15-year warning about escalating insecurity in Nigeria, emphasizing the need for prayer to prevent the nation from descending into chaos.
- “Developments in the past two weeks, particularly in Nigeria, are worrisome to say the least. You can’t trade people’s lives for your comfort. All the innocent blood shared is speaking vengeance…all the perpetrators will pay with their lives,” he said.
Oyedepo called on members of his church to engage in midnight prayers from 12 a.m. to 1 a.m., describing the initiative as a spiritual “raid” against violence and terrorism. He stressed the spiritual identity of Nigeria, warning that divine justice will confront arrogance and wrongdoing.

- “Every attack against the church shall be met with divine justice. Don’t politicise human life; it’s immoral. Let’s join our hands and our hearts together and pray…All winners anoint your houses,” he added.
Citing scripture, Oyedepo said:
- “When God speaks it is accompanied with peace, Psalm 85:8…He will surely speak peace to His people and His saints. I’ve been shouting this for 15 years; He has prompted me to speak again.”
The bishop condemned acts of violence, kidnapping, and terrorism, urging Nigerians to stand united in prayer and to demand justice for all victims.
This call comes in the wake of multiple attacks on churches across the country, reinforcing concerns over rising insecurity and the safety of worshippers in Nigeria.
