Former US President Joe Biden is currently undergoing radiation and hormone therapy as part of his ongoing treatment for prostate cancer, his spokesperson confirmed on Saturday.
- “As part of a treatment plan for prostate cancer, President Biden is currently undergoing radiation therapy and hormone treatment,” the spokesperson said.
In May, Biden’s office revealed that the 82-year-old had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that had spread to his bones after he experienced urinary symptoms, and a prostate nodule was discovered.

At the time, Biden shared a heartfelt message on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “Cancer touches us all. Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places.” He also expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from the public.
Biden’s health has drawn increased attention following the release of a recent book that detailed his health struggles during his campaign for a second term against Donald Trump.
In July 2024, Biden announced his withdrawal from the presidential race after a poor debate performance against Trump and endorsed his vice president, Kamala Harris. Harris later lost to Trump, who began his second term in January 2025.
According to the American Cancer Society, prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men and is especially prevalent in older men, with research estimating that about 80 percent of men over 80 have some cancerous cells in their prostate gland.

While prostate cancer is highly treatable if detected early, it remains the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths among men. Hormone therapy, often used in advanced cases, can slow cancer growth and shrink tumours but does not provide a complete cure.
Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump, 79, underwent his second medical examination of the year on Friday, with his doctor declaring him to be in “excellent overall health.”
