‎The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has declared a two-week nationwide warning strike, effective from 12 midnight today, Sunday, October 12, 2025.

‎According to ASUU President, Chris Piwuna, who made the announcement at a press conference held at the union’s national secretariat in the University of Abuja, the industrial action serves as a window for the federal government to conclude ongoing negotiations with the union.

‎Piwuna accused the government of insincerity and delay in meeting the union’s long-standing demands, stressing that ASUU members across all public universities have been directed to withdraw their services immediately.

‎The union stated that it remains committed to the revitalization of Nigerian universities, improved welfare of lecturers, and adequate funding of the education sector.
