APC Woman Leader Launches 774 Explode Initiative, Pushes for Women’s Inclusion in Governance.

The National Woman Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Mary Idele Alile, has called for urgent action to boost women’s political participation and inclusion in governance across Nigeria.

Speaking during a strategic visit to the Federal Ministry of Regional Development in Abuja on Friday, Alile decried the low number of women in politics, noting that women make up only 4.2% of the 10th National Assembly.

“This must change,” she declared. “We are not asking for handouts; we are demanding fair representation.”

774 Explode Initiative Unveiled

During the visit, Dr. Alile introduced the “774 Explode Initiative,” a bold nationwide campaign aimed at increasing women’s political engagement in all 774 local government areas of Nigeria.
The initiative will focus on grassroots mobilization, mentorship, and capacity building for aspiring female leaders.

She urged the Ministry to support gender-responsive policies and initiatives that empower women both politically and economically.

Ministry Declares Full Support

In response, the Minister of Regional Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh FNSE praised the initiative and emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to inclusive governance.

“Our programs—whether in skills development, rural infrastructure, or medical outreach—are being tailored to meet the specific needs of women, especially in underserved communities,” the Minister said.

He also promised the Ministry’s full cooperation in areas such as policy advocacy, program design, and community mobilization to support President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Healthcare Projects for Women in the North

The Minister of State, Uba Maigari, revealed that 19 new 50-bed hospitals are currently under construction across northern Nigeria to improve maternal and child health outcomes.

“Our goal is to ensure that no woman is left behind,” Maigari noted, stressing the importance of healthcare infrastructure in empowering rural women.

Women as Catalysts for Change

The visit ended with a mutual pledge of continued collaboration. Dr. Alile committed to using her influence to amplify government programs at the grassroots level, while the Minister encouraged APC women leaders to mobilize support for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.

“Women are the backbone of our communities,” Momoh said. “Their voices must be heard, their contributions recognized, and their leadership celebrated.”
