The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has ordered the strategic deployment of security operatives across the state ahead of the crucial political party primaries set for Saturday, April 5, 2025.

Speaking on Friday during a security strategy session, CP Orutugu highlighted the importance of professionalism and neutrality as political parties prepare to select their gubernatorial candidates.

According to the Commissioner, the deployment is a proactive security measure aimed at ensuring a peaceful, credible, and violence-free electoral process.

“The officers deployed are directed to remain professional, apolitical, and neutral in their duties. We urge all political parties, aspirants, and supporters to comply with the law and maintain peace during the primaries,” CP Orutugu stated.

He further explained that security personnel have been positioned in sensitive locations across Anambra, with ongoing stakeholder engagement to prevent electoral violence and disruption.

“This strategic deployment is designed to boost public confidence, ensure voter safety, and create a secure environment for democratic participation,” he said.

The Commissioner added that the security teams will carry out patrols, intelligence surveillance, traffic control, and collaborate with other security agencies to ensure smooth operations throughout the primaries.

CP Orutugu also appealed to Anambra residents to cooperate with law enforcement officers and remain law-abiding.
