Rivers Crisis: Ex-Head of Service Nwaeke Accuses Suspended Governor Fubara of Pipeline Explosions, Arson.

Former Rivers State Head of Service, George Nwaeke, has alleged that suspended Governor Siminialayi Fubara orchestrated oil pipeline explosions and the burning of the Rivers State House of Assembly complex to prevent his impeachment.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Nwaeke, who resigned under the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibom Ete Ibas (retd.), claimed he was not pressured to resign but felt compelled to expose “critical issues affecting the state.”

Key Allegations Against Fubara

  • Masterminding Oil Pipeline Explosions: Nwaeke accused Fubara and certain Ijaw leaders of sponsoring attacks on oil facilities to destabilize the state.
  • Burning of Rivers Assembly Complex: He alleged that Fubara ordered his former Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, to set the Assembly complex on fire to prevent lawmakers from impeaching him.
  • Plan to Sabotage Non-Ijaw Areas: Nwaeke claimed Fubara targeted Ogoni, Oyibo, and Ahoda regions first before extending destruction to Ijaw territories.
  • Secret Political Deals: He alleged that Fubara planned to leverage Ijaw influence for the 2027 presidential election, controlling security around oil pipelines.
