Renowned gospel singer and minister, Nathaniel Bassey, has opened up about his wife’s painful experience with five miscarriages, including an ectopic pregnancy, during the period he was leading the popular Hallelujah Challenge.
The Hallelujah Challenge, a month-long online praise and worship movement, attracts thousands of believers worldwide to sing, pray, and share testimonies.
Speaking during the early hours of Friday’s session, Bassey shared that even while facing these heartbreaking moments, he remained committed to his ministry. He recalled moments when he would leave the hospital to lead praise online and then return to be with his wife afterward.
- “My wife will have to forgive me. Do you know there were times during the Hallelujah Challenge when we had a miscarriage, and nobody knew? I would still come online to praise and dance,” he revealed.
Bassey continued:
- “A few years ago, she was in the hospital with an ectopic pregnancy. I would leave, lead praise and worship online, then return to the hospital, and the nurses would say, ‘It was powerful tonight.’ Not one, not two, not three or four pregnancies, but five.”

Despite the pain, Bassey expressed unwavering faith, saying, “God is faithful. One of the words He gave us was, ‘Don’t give up on God.’”
Married since 2013, Nathaniel Bassey and his wife are now blessed with two children, a son and a daughter. The singer encouraged believers to remain steadfast in faith, reminding them that God’s faithfulness shines even in the darkest trials.
