The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the new subject combinations for the 2026 examination, introducing major changes to how students in different departments can select their subjects.
Under the new guidelines, Science students can no longer take Economics, while students in the Humanities—those offering Literature, Government, or History—are also barred from registering for Economics. According to WAEC, only students in the Business or Commercial department are now permitted to take the subject.
