Troops of the Nigerian Army have recorded a major victory in the fight against terrorism, eliminating a notorious kingpin, Kachalla Maidawa, and 35 other insurgents in coordinated nationwide operations conducted between September 29 and October 4.
A credible source from the Army Headquarters disclosed that the coordinated offensives were carried out across all six geo-political zones, leading to the arrest of 32 criminal suspects, rescue of 22 kidnapped victims, and recovery of large caches of arms, ammunition, and logistics supplies.

In Kogi State, troops of Operation Egwu Eke Atite III, working with the Navy, DSS, Police, and Hybrid Forces, foiled a planned terrorist attack on Isanlu, Yagba West Local Government Area. During a fierce gun battle, over 12 terrorists were neutralised, including Maidawa — known for violent raids across Kogi and parts of Kwara.
Recovered items included one AK-47 rifle, 400 rounds of assorted ammunition, four motorcycles, three Dane guns, a fragmentation jacket, and mobile phones.
In Kebbi State, troops of the 1 Brigade ambushed terrorists along the Salka–Kinke–Makurdi road in Ngaski Local Government Area, killing two terrorists and rescuing eight victims. They also recovered seven AK-47 magazines, 180 rounds of ammunition, and two motorcycles.
Similarly, troops of the 11 Field Engineer Regiment and CSI Battalion in Kaduna State foiled a ₦3 million ransom delivery involving brand-new motorcycles meant for terrorists in Giwa and Birnin Gwari areas. Five hostages were rescued, while fleeing bandits were neutralised. Two suspected kidnappers were later caught at the Damakasuwa checkpoint with ₦1.3 million cash.
In the North-East, troops of the 151 Task Force Battalion killed five ISWAP/JAS terrorists during an ambush in Bama Local Government Area of Borno, while 3 Battalion and 24 Task Force Brigade arrested logistics and drug suppliers along the Gamboru–Wulgo road. A sting operation in Monguno also led to 12 arrests, including a terrorist tax collector.

In the South-East, troops under Operation Udo Ka raided IPOB/ESN hideouts in Abia and Imo States, arresting suspects involved in the abduction and murder of the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal Polytechnic, Afikpo. A notorious ESN fighter was killed, and arms were recovered.
Meanwhile, in the South-South, under Operation Delta Safe, troops destroyed several illegal oil-refining sites in Rivers and Bayelsa States, recovering over 2,000 litres of stolen crude oil. Fourteen drug dealers were also arrested in collaboration with the NDLEA.
The Army source stated that these operations demonstrate the military’s superiority in combat, intelligence gathering, and coordination, reaffirming its commitment to restoring peace, ensuring public safety, and supporting national stability.
