Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has expressed concern over the fitness of teenage sensation Lamine Yamal, casting doubt on his availability for the much-anticipated El Clásico showdown against Real Madrid later this month.
The 18-year-old winger, who has been one of Barcelona’s standout players this season, is reportedly struggling with a complicated groin injury that has made his recovery timeline uncertain.

Yamal recently made his return as a substitute during Barcelona’s 1–0 win over Real Sociedad and went on to play a full 90 minutes in their 2–1 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain. However, his condition appears to have worsened since then, prompting caution from the club’s medical team.
Speaking to reporters, Flick explained the delicate situation surrounding the player’s recovery:
“With this injury, it’s not so easy to know when he will return,” he said.
“It’s not easy to say ‘OK, he can play in two, three, or four weeks,’ or even if he’s able to play the Clásico. This is not possible right now.”

The Barcelona boss added that the club would continue to monitor Yamal’s progress closely, stressing the need for patience:
- “We have to wait and manage his load. He’s training with the recovery team, and we’ll go step by step to see how the situation evolves.”
Yamal’s potential absence would be a major blow for Barcelona, as the young star has become a crucial part of Flick’s attacking setup. The El Clásico encounter, one of the biggest fixtures in world football, could take place without one of its brightest rising stars if the recovery does not go as planned.
