Tragedy struck in Benin City on Thursday as the Commandant of the Edo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Gbenga Agun, reportedly slumped and died during a public event.

NAIJABLOGDAILY gathered that Agun collapsed shortly after delivering his keynote address at a programme organised by the International Association of World Peace Advocates.

He was immediately rushed to the Military Hospital along Airport Road, Benin City, but was pronounced dead on arrival.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Edo NSCDC Command nor the national headquarters of the Corps has issued an official statement regarding his sudden death.
