Trump Plans Travel Ban on 43 Countries, Excludes Nigeria and South Africa.

The United States President, Donald Trump, is set to impose a travel ban on 43 countries, according to an internal memo obtained by Reuters on Saturday.

The proposed ban categorizes affected countries into three groups—red, orange, and yellow—each facing varying levels of travel restrictions. While the Trump administration has not yet officially approved the list, it notably excludes Nigeria, South Africa, Algeria, and Egypt, despite targeting several African nations.

Breakdown of the Travel Ban Categories:

  1. Red List (11 Countries – Full Travel Ban):
Nationals from these countries will be completely barred from entering the US:

Afghanistan, Iran, Sudan, Syria, Libya, Cuba, Bhutan, Venezuela, North Korea, Yemen, and Somalia.

  1. Orange List (10 Countries – Visa Restrictions):
Visa access will be sharply restricted for:

Russia, Belarus, Myanmar, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Pakistan, Laos, Turkmenistan, Haiti, and Eritrea.

The New York Times initially reported the list, while a US official told Reuters that changes could still be made before the plan is finalized. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and other key officials have yet to give final approval.

This proposed immigration crackdown aligns with Trump’s second-term agenda, which has prioritized tightening US borders since his inauguration in January 2025.
