Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal could miss the highly anticipated El Clásico against Barcelona after the club confirmed on Sunday that he has suffered a calf injury.

The 33-year-old Spain international picked up the injury during Los Blancos’ 5-2 La Liga defeat to Atletico Madrid on Saturday. While Real Madrid did not confirm the exact recovery timeline, Spanish media reports suggest Carvajal may be sidelined for around one month, casting serious doubt over his availability for the October 26 clash at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Apart from the El Clásico, Carvajal is also expected to miss crucial fixtures, including UEFA Champions League matches against Kairat and Juventus, as well as La Liga encounters with Villarreal and Getafe. His absence also rules him out of Spain’s upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifying games.

Carvajal’s injury comes as a double blow for Real Madrid, with their other right-back, Trent Alexander-Arnold, already sidelined with a hamstring problem. Manager Carlo Ancelotti may be forced to turn to versatile midfielder Fede Valverde as a temporary option in the right-back role, a position he has previously covered.

The potential absence of both Carvajal and Alexander-Arnold leaves Madrid facing a defensive headache ahead of one of the biggest fixtures of the La Liga season.
