A tragic scene unfolded in Grand Blanc, Michigan, on Sunday as a gunman opened fire inside the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, leaving multiple victims before being taken down by law enforcement. Authorities also confirmed that the church building caught fire during the chaos.
The Grand Blanc Township Police Department assured the public that there is no ongoing threat.

- “There are multiple victims and the shooter is down. There is NO threat to the public at this time. The church is actively on fire,” the department announced, urging residents to stay clear of the area.
Videos circulating on social media showed flames engulfing the roof of the church as emergency responders rushed to the scene. Reports from NBC News indicate that between six and eight people were injured.
Top U.S. officials swiftly reacted to the incident. Attorney General Pam Bondi condemned the assault, describing it as a “horrific shooting and fire.” She urged Americans to pray for the victims.

FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed that federal agents are involved in the investigation, stressing that violence in places of worship is a “cowardly and criminal act.”
Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer also expressed sorrow, saying:
- “Violence anywhere, especially in a place of worship, is unacceptable. I am grateful to the first responders who took action quickly.”
