The Obidient Movement, supporters of former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, have accused ex-National Chairman of the Labour Party, Julius Abure, of masterminding an attack on popular social media activist Precious Oruche, widely known as Mama P.
In a statement released in Abuja on Saturday, the group alleged that Abure sent thugs to assault Mama P, describing the incident as a barbaric act and an insult to democracy and womanhood.

The Obidients called on the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to launch a full investigation and ensure those behind the attack face justice.
“Julius Abure, rather than conducting himself as a responsible citizen, has resorted to thuggery and violence by sending armed hoodlums after Mama P, a revered social activist and one of the pillars of our movement,” the statement read.
The group further condemned the attack, insisting that intimidation and violence would not silence Mama P or the millions of Nigerians she represents.
- “This barbaric act is proof that Abure has abandoned any claim to integrity. It is cowardly and exposes the emptiness of his political vision,” the statement continued.
Call for Justice
The Obidient Movement urged security agencies to take swift action, warning that violence must not be allowed to become a tool of politics in Nigeria.
- “We are calling on the IGP and all relevant agencies to immediately investigate this crime and bring sponsors of the attack to justice. Abure’s thuggery is a stain on our democracy,” the group declared.

The statement reaffirmed solidarity with Mama P, stressing, “We stand with Mama P. We stand with truth. And no amount of violence will derail the march to a New Nigeria.”
Labour Party Faction Responds
Earlier, Obiora Ifoh, spokesperson for the Abure-led Labour Party faction, dismissed the allegations, instead accusing Mama P of orchestrating a series of verbal and physical attacks on Julius Abure before and after a flight from Abuja to Benin.
The conflicting accounts have further heightened tensions within the Labour Party, which has faced internal leadership disputes since the 2023 general elections.
