President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigerians that the country’s economic hardship is now behind them, declaring that brighter days of growth and prosperity lie ahead.
The President made this statement on Friday at Mapo Hall, Ibadan, during the grand coronation of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adewolu Ladoja, the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

Addressing the crowd, Tinubu said the economy had “turned a corner,” stressing that the pain citizens endured during recent reforms was as “difficult as a painful surgery,” but necessary for recovery.
- “Your suffering has been as painful to us as a painful surgery. But the economy has now returned to a moment of growth and prosperity. Thank you for your perseverance and endurance,” he said.
Tinubu also paid glowing tributes to Oba Ladoja, describing him as both a renowned businessman and a leader with deep cultural and political influence.
- “Kabiyesi, happy birthday once again. Today, I am honoured to witness your coronation and to share this historic moment. I once came to Oke Mapo to seek your support with the words ‘Emi lo’kan’ (it’s my turn), and today, by God’s grace, we are here,” Tinubu recalled, referencing his famous campaign slogan.

The coronation attracted thousands of well-wishers, traditional rulers, political leaders, and citizens, marking a historic chapter in Ibadan’s cultural heritage.
Oba Adewolu Ladoja, a former Governor of Oyo State, becomes the first ex-governor to ascend the prestigious Olubadan throne. His coronation is seen as a significant blend of traditional authority and political leadership, further strengthening the cultural identity of Ibadan.
