Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has announced the immediate dissolution of the Rivers State Pensions Board, directing the Office of the State Accountant General to temporarily take over its functions until a new board is constituted.
The directive was contained in a Government Special Announcement issued in Port Harcourt on Friday evening by the State Head of Service, Mrs Inyingi Brown, and obtained by Naija Blog Daily.
According to the statement, members of the dissolved board have been instructed to hand over all properties and assets in their possession to the Director of Administration of the Board.

- “The Executive Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has approved the immediate dissolution of the Rivers State Pensions Board. Consequently, the Office of the Accountant General of Rivers State, henceforth, will handle the functions of the Board,” the announcement stated.
No reason was given for the dissolution. However, the governor assured that a new board would be constituted in due course to manage pension affairs.
This marks the first major directive taken by Governor Fubara since his reinstatement by President Bola Tinubu on September 18, 2025.
