President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has summoned Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), the immediate past Sole Administrator of Rivers State, to Aso Rock Villa in Abuja.
Ibas, who served as sole administrator for six months during the emergency rule in the oil-rich state, arrived at the villa around 5:50 pm dressed in brown native attire. He was accompanied by Finance Minister Wale Edun and EFCC Chairman Ola Olukayede, signaling the seriousness of the meeting.

Eyewitnesses noted that Edun had earlier entered the villa but left quickly, returning shortly after with an official file in hand.
Ibas left office on September 17, following the expiration of the six-month emergency rule. His exit coincided with President Tinubu’s directive reinstating the suspended Governor Sim Fubara, his deputy, and the state House of Assembly members.

Following their resumption, the Rivers State House of Assembly, led by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, announced plans to investigate all state expenditures during the emergency rule. Lawmakers specifically vowed to review withdrawals from the Consolidated Revenue Fund, contract awards, and other major financial transactions.
Ibas, however, rejected the Assembly’s decision to probe his administration’s spending.
Records show that Rivers State received at least ₦254.37 billion from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) between March and August 2025, during Ibas’ tenure as administrator.
