Tomeka Thiam, the wife of Senegalese-American music star Akon, has filed for divorce just days before what would have been their 29th wedding anniversary.

Court documents filed on Thursday, September 11, 2025, in Fulton County, Georgia, reveal that Tomeka is seeking the dissolution of her marriage to the singer. She also requested joint legal custody of their child, with visitation rights granted to Akon.

In addition, Tomeka is demanding spousal support while asking the court to deny any such request from the award-winning singer. She cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for ending the marriage.
